Announcement…

Posted by Hollyann

Well, it’s time for a huge announcement.  This has all been in the works for several months, in fact since October when Kerri and Scott came to visit Todd and I, and we all started talking about how we are just done with the cold in our respective cities.  Since then, in an undercover mission that even now I am surprised we didn’t blow at some point, we have been searching for a way to make it work for both of our families to move to Florida.  FOR GOOD.  Well, I am thrilled to announce that everything is finally done, and we’re going.  All of us.  :)   Here’s the scoop.

The first thing had to be done was for Todd to find work there.  As you all know, he works for the federal government, so it being federal and all, it’s not too terribly difficult to find a transfer job in another state.  The problem was, it took months for one to come up that he was both qualified for and would enjoy.  Well, one did, he flew out to interview for it in the middle of January and had it offered to him 3 weeks ago.  He’ll be starting work at Cape Canaveral at the beginning of June, so he’ll be leaving before me and the kids.  This new job of his pays quite a bit more than the one here, so we were able to move on to the 2nd priority..

Finding a school for the kids.  The public schools in Florida are not the best, so once we knew Todd was getting that raise, we went on a search for a decent private school with a nice special ed program for Charlie.  We were able to find a very nice k-12 school not too far from where we are going to be living… and Mitchel and Emily will be going there too. Which works out nice, since we both have found houses in a brand new development, practically next door to each other, so we can carpool.   In fact, the only thing that we have been waiting on just came through on the fax today.

You see, I have been bored, and Kerri can’t very well work at KTI when she’s living in Florida, so we decided to go into business together.  We found a bar for sale on the internet about a month ago and have been negotiating to buy it ever since.  They’ve finally accepted our offer, and we take over ‘Oliver’s Place’ on August first, when it will reopen as ‘The Bear’s Den’.

What will Scott be doing, you ask?  Well, he’s got a friend of a friend who has a car dealership between the cape and Orlando, so he will be working there.

When do we leave?  Well, I am staying here with the kids until school is out and my lease here is up, so I plan to go out the end of June.  Kerri I think has some other things to take care of, plus there are some issues with getting their house sold that I am not so sure how they turned out, so not sure if she is moving that early or not, I just need her there at the beginning of August to help me open the bar.  Anyways, that is our big news, more details on everything later, gotta run.  Must pack, and stuff.  :D
