Scrappy stuff…

Posted by Hollyann

I have a couple scrapbooking items to get caught up on that are kinda urgent, so I’m already interrupting the backlog posting schedule to do that.
First, for those of you who don’t know, I am part of the creative team at Pixel Gypsy Designs. As part of that, I get to make up challenges and other fun stuff from time to time. I just posted a scraplift challenge on Friday, you should all go check it out. (Scraplift: to take another person’s scrapbook page and base your own upon their design in some manner) Here is the page I lifted, by the fabulous Whit:
Delight
And here is my version of that:
Snow
Any of you who scrap, you should do the challenge. You get points to buy free scrappy stuffs! PGD is a fun and welcoming community, and the only rule on the challenges is that you use at least one PGD item on your challenge page. That’s easy, because there are plenty of free cute things in the store! All you have to do for this one is to make your version of Whit’s page. You can find out more at the challenge forum.

Second, I went and entered a contest at My Scrapbook Art. It’s called Ultimate Artist, and since I do love a cool title, (and good prizes) I went ahead and signed up for it. A quick rundown of how it works – it’s a 4 week contest, every week they post a prompt (challenge) on Monday, you make a page for it and post it by Thursday at midnight, Friday and Saturday users at My Scrapbook Art vote for their favorites, and then the top X percentage moves on to the next round, repeat until people win. Thanks to you fine people, I made it through to the second round with this page:
Happy Place
Tomorrow they post the week 2 challenge and Friday I will be asking for all of you to vote again. :) Congratulations to my fellow Gypsy Girl Jackie (Ace’s Wild) who also made it to week 2!

Last but not least, I’ll be making one of the freebies for December at PGD, with Cari’s fab kit Blues on Ice. I’ll be sure and let you know when my freebie day is, because whatever I make should be so stunning you can’t live without it! :)

Holy crap…

Posted by Hollyann

So it’s been a while since I have been here, right? Yikes, bad blog mommy. I’m back now, though, and celebrating my return with a bit of redecorating. You like? I like, so really I don’t care much if you do or not, I was just being polite. During the redecorating process, I found about a dozen half finished posts languishing in my draft box. So, because I know you all have been just dying to read something, anything I write, I’m gonna try to post one of these every day or two until we get caught up to now-ish. This first one was marked as last edited on May 28th, 2009, and was obviously waiting on a specific picture I had yet to take. So I took one (my apologies quality-wise, I used my phone cause it was handy, but there isn’t much light in there.) So now, for your enjoyment, something I had originally called:
She has the balance and grace of a cat….
Last night I was enjoying myself by watching Jasmine (or KittyKitty as she is normally called) chase the miller moths around the bedroom.  Honestly, watching a Siamese jump across the room and on top of furniture and back again is just amazing.  Then, around 2:30 in the morning, I heard a ruckus. And by ruckus I mean all kinds of strange noise.  Once I realize we are probably not being attacked by hissing aliens, I assume Jasmine is chasing more moths, and look around so that I can maybe grab her and toss her out of the bedroom for waking me up. She is… nowhere.  But the noise is definitely in the room, and really pretty much right by my head.  To explain where the noise is coming from, I will have to show you a picture of the corner of our room:

cabinet

This is my curio cabinet.  It’s shaped like half a hexagon, and I put it diagonally in the corner, so there’s a bitty triangle of empty space behind it.  Anyone see where I am going with this yet?  Yes, Jasmine was on top of the thing going after the moth, and fell behind it.  I had to wake Todd up to make him move it because it’s very heavy and I couldn’t.  Balance and grace, yes indeedy, that is our Jasmine.  She’s got enough of both to make her equal to a 3 month old… puppy.  :)
